|Description: ||Josephine County Community Corrections Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Parole/Probation Officer. This position is full time and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. The Parole/Probation Officer supervises individuals on parole or probation within the constraints of court and Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision orders. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Requirements: Knowledge of parole and probation practices and philosophy; federal and state laws pertaining to probation and parole; the criminal justice system; the concepts and principles of human behavior and adjustment problems in adult offenders; and substance abuse. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain composure and work effectively in emergency and/or crisis situations; work effectively with adult offenders and their families, law enforcement personnel, social service agencies, and the general public; comprehend, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations; exercise good judgment and common sense in the application of established policies and procedures; maintain records and prepare accurate reports. Bachelors Degree preferred; or a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and/or DPSST training. Final candidate selected for position will be required to pass a drug screening and a thorough background investigation. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver's License; safe driving record; Possession of or ability to obtain Board of Police Standards and Training Probation/Parole Certificate within 18 months.
- Maintaining regular home visits, contacting employers, and individuals to ensure compliance with the conditions of parole and probation.
- Preparing criminal record checks and conducting investigations and reports for the courts.
- Testifying in court regarding reports and recommendations.
- Identifies and refers offenders to appropriate counseling and/or treatment programs.
