|Description: ||Performs landscape maintenance for County properties. Responsibilities include operating grounds keeping related equipment including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers; proper upkeep and repair of sidewalks: cleanliness of parking lots; maintenance of assigned equipment, fences, planters, and benches. In addition to caring for sod, plants, and trees, Landscape Specialists rake, blow and mulch leaves, clear snow/ice from walkways and parking lots, and use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and prevent waste. Knowledge of proper planting and horticulture maintenance procedures is required. Must possess knowledge of, and the ability to apply correct safety procedures including guidelines for proper and safe use and disposal of insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
Considerable knowledge of lawn maintenance, shrubbery and tree pruning, application of fertilizers and herbicides; proper use, maintenance and repair of landscape tools and equipment; and safety practices and procedures is required. Must possess ability to interpret and comply with written and oral instructions; work independently and manage time efficiently; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
High school graduation or equivalency and three (3) years experience in landscape maintenance; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver's License; safe driving record. Those employed in this position are subject to a background investigation, including criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Conviction of a crime may disqualify an individual for this classification. Must pass Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security clearance.
