JOSEPHINE COUNTY AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARDS
Illinois Valley Airport

Position(s) open: One
Chamber Rep from IV Area


The purpose of the Advisory Boards shall be to advise the Josephine County Board of County Commissioners and Airport Manager on all matters affecting aviation and airport facilities.  These Boards meets monthly in the evenings.

The purpose of the JASAC is to advise and make recommendations to the Josephine County Board of Commissioners and Josephine County Public Health Director regarding long range planning and budgeting for Josephine County Animal Shelter, animal shelter operations, and use of the animal shelter facility.

Veterinarian, Dentist, Physician
  
The purpose of the Board of Health is to make recommendations to the Public Health Authority through the administrator of the Public Health Department for the development of an effective and efficient public health programs throughout Josephine County by receiving Public Health Staff reports and making appropriate recommendations and encouraging County citizens to present department program concerns to the Board of Health and to respond to issues being reviewed by the board.  The Board also makes suggestions regarding financial resources such as grants, fee income, general funds, etc.

At-Large, Alternate

 
The Budget Committee meets three or four times in a public setting between March and June generally from 4 – 6 p.m. to review and approve proposed budget documents by the Budget Officer for the County.  County budget consists of several Funds covering a variety of Departments such as Public Safety, Property Services, and General Fund.  Budget Committee members should have an interest in County operations and an understanding of governmental budget processes. Board members may serve up to three, 3-year terms.

GP School Representative, Alcohol and Drug, Law Enforcement Representative, DD Consumer, At-Large
 
The Josephine County Mental Health Advisory Board believes that all individuals have a right to access a full range of mental health services.  The Board's role is to help assess and represent the community’s mental health needs, and to facilitate and support the development and implementation of services to meet these.  The Board also strives to promote public awareness of the services provided by the County Mental Health Program and to promote community education regarding mental illness.  The Board is composed of representatives from several area agencies and the public.  Terms run for four years.

Recovery Community, Business Community, Clergy
 
The LADPC actively supports the promotion of healthy families and community lifestyles by preventing and reducing alcohol and drug abuse.  Members believe that all individuals have the right to access an effective continuum of alcohol and drug prevention, intervention, and treatment services.  Collaborative community efforts will maximize the effectiveness of local resources.  The purpose of LADPC is to make Recommendations to the Board of Commissioners in matters pertaining to local alcohol and drug issues, funding and services.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE 
 
Position(s) open:  Four
Disabled Provider, Low Income, Elderly/Disabled Outside of Existing Service Area, Individual Engaged in Providing Transportation Services for Elderly/Disabled
 
The Advisory Committee is composed of up to nine members, each of which must be a resident of Josephine County.  The duties of the Special Transportation Advisory Committee are to advise the Board of Commissioners regarding the opportunities to coordinate Special Transportation Fund (STF) and Special Transportation Operating (STO) moneys and STF and STO funded projects with other transportation program and services to avoid duplication and gaps in service.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
 
Position(s) open:  One
Illinois Valley/City of Cave Junction Representative
 
The JHCDC administers the federally funded, Section 8 Tenant-Based Assistance programs for Josephine County.  Their purpose is to provide low-income residents with opportunities to obtain affordable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.  In general, the board members set the direction and tone of the JHCDC.  They give direction to the Executive Director, as necessary, and review situations brought to their attention.  The board is responsible for the decisions they make in their capacity as board members.  The Board reviews, sets and amends policies for general operation, reviews new programs and decides whether or not to apply for them, reviews regular program reports submitted by staff at monthly meetings, etc.  Applicants for these positions must not be nor have been a landlord, agent for a landlord or a relative of an agent/landlord of a participant who receives/d direct assistance from this housing authority in the past twelve (12) consecutive months from the date of application for the position you are applying.

Health Care/Emergency Department Physician
 
The duties of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Board are to review and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding all applications for assignment of Ambulance Service Areas, including initial license, amendment to a license, or renewal of license.  The Board is also responsible for providing ongoing input to the County from pre-hospital care consumers, care providers, ambulance service providers and the medical community in Josephine County.

The duty of this Advisory Committee is to make recommendations to the Baord of Commissioners relating to timber management policies on County forest lands.

The Parks Advisory Board acts as a primary line of communication between the public and Josephine County government to provide the Board of County Commissioners with the broadest range of public thought and response to Josephine County’s parks and recreational needs and services.  The Board also recommends parcels of County land suitable for public parks and recreational purposes.  The Board consists of nine members appointed to four-year terms.

The Josephine County Board of Commissioners are currently accepting applications to fill vacancy(s) on the JOSEPHINE COUNTY RURAL AREA PLANNING COMMISSION          
 
Position(s) open:  One & one alternate
Retired Senior Program Manager, Alternate

 
The Commission consists of seven members. The members are all from different geographical areas within the County. No more than two members shall be engaged principally in the buying, selling, or developing of real estate for profit either as individuals or for a company or corporation. No more than two members shall be engaged in the same kind of occupation, business, trade or profession.  The Rural Area Planning Commission has final jurisdiction over land use matters as specified in County Law for the areas outside the Urban Growth Boundary.  The Commission also reviews and makes recommendations regarding zone changes, comprehensive plan map amendments and site specific changes.
