Josephine County Commissioner
Darin Fowler has lived in Josephine County for 47 years, starting a successful business and raising his family here. For 25 years he has volunteered as a coach, Sunday school teacher and in local government.
Fowler believes government must have a commitment to represent and serve its citizens without promotion of personal agendas. His work with numerous governmental councils, committees and commissions gives him a broad understanding of the opportunities and issues Josephine County faces. He has a realistic and honest approach to each matter that comes before him and works diligently to find a reasonable solution.
Fowler is financially conservative, both in local government and his own business. He believes this is vital in government services, and that county commissioners must conduct business in the most efficient, cost-effective and transparent way possible without placing additional financial burden on future generations.
As mayor and city councilor, Fowler worked to navigate the often difficult landscape of the community’s politics. He’s helped to solve a jail bed shortage, renegotiated an irrigation district agreement to save $1.4 million over 10 years and fought for state and federal dollars to enhance business development, increase tourism opportunities and to make housing accessible and affordable.
