The Public Works Engineering Department provides assistance to the Planning Department in the review of land-use applications. When a proposal for a new subdivision, land partition, or commercial use is submitted to Planning, a copy is forwarded to the Public Works Engineering Department for review against the criteria found in the County's Rural Land Development Code.
Depending upon the nature of the application, the Engineering Department may provide comments on appropriate standards for new road construction, rights-of-way dedication, access standards, erosion control, storm drainage, parking, and sign installation. If detailed drawings for any of these applications are required, the Engineering Department will review the drawings and inspect field work for conformance.
In the urbanizing areas of Grants Pass, the Public Works Engineering Department provides similar assistance to the City Planning staff.
