Flagger Safety

Slow down in road work zones!
Slow down in road work zones!

The most important part of traveling is safely getting where you want to go. Work zones help ensure you have the safest possible travel. Be sure to follow these important safety tips when traveling through work zones.

Pay close attention to warning signs and work zone flaggers.

Stay alert, slow down, and focus on driving.

Donít tailgate. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and traffic barriers, trucks, construction equipment, and workers.

Keep up with traffic flow.

Donít speed. Reduced speed limits are necessary and additional traffic fines are given in work zones.

Minimize distractions and drive responsibly.

Expect the unexpected. Normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed, and people and vehicles may be working on or near the road.

Be patient. Work zones are necessary to improve the safety and convenience of the roads for everyone.
