Retired Law Enforcement Firearms Qualification

 

Retired Peace Officer Firearms Qualification

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office will provide a firearms qualification course for retired peace officers.  The firearms course complies with the Law Enforcement Act, HR 218, and firearms standards of the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.  Retired peace officers wishing to qualify will need to comply with the following requirements:

LOCATION: 

Law Enforcement Range, Josephine County Sportsman Association Park, 7407 Highland Ave, Grants Pass, OR.

DATES:

  • September 11, 2010 @ 0830 to 1200
  • September 19, 2010 @ 0830 to 1200
  • October 16, 2010 @ 0830 to 1200

EQIPMENT:

  • Handguns must be clean and in good working order.
  • All guns will be inspected prior to qualification.
  • Holsters are required.  You will be expected to draw from a holster.
  • Semi-auto's will require a carrier and two extra magazines.
  • Revolvers will require a carrier and two extra loaders.
  • Each person will require 50 rounds of factory ammunition.  NO RELOADS.

INFORMATION:

  • All persons wishing to qualify must be at the range by no later than 1115 hours.
  • Please park in the lot below the range.
  • There is no potable water at this range.
  • You will be expected to shoot from a kneeling position, please wear long pants.
  • Eye and ear protection will be provided.
  • The qualification shoot will proceed regardless of the weather conditions. 
  • All personnel are required to check in at the Park Admin Office.
  • If you are not a Park Association member, there will be a range fee. 
  • In addition to the park fee, each participant will be required to pay the range officer a $20.00 administrative fee.  The fee should be in cash and for the exact amount.  Checks and credit cards will not be accepted.
