The Josephine County Adult Jail is located at

1901 NE "F" Street, Grants Pass, OR  97526.

 

The Jail was built in 2000 and currently houses approximately 105 inmates.  The Josephine County Adult Jail incarcerates offenders in a humane, professionally sound manner and provides safe and secure operations. 

 

The following information is designed to assist you with information regarding the most asked questions from family and friends of those detained within the jail.

 

BAIL:

The Courts will accept cash only.  Checks and credit cards cannot be accepted at the courts.  During normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., bail may be posted at the Accounting Office for the Josephine County Courts.  They are located on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse, on the corner of 6th & C Streets. 

 

Bail can also be posted by TouchPay when the courts are closed; any time of day.  TouchPay accepts Visa/MasterCard credit cards and debit cards with Visa/MasterCard logo, cash in the jail lobby kiosk or check & credit card by phone.  Convenience fees apply.

 

MONEY FOR AN INMATE:

Inmates can have up to $200.00 in their inmate account, which enables them to purchase commissary items such as snacks and hygiene items.  Medical bills and any monies owed from a prior stay will be deducted from their account. Money can be put on inmates accounts via the TouchPay system.  

The “TouchPay” system allows deposits using three easy ways.

v     Touch Screen Kiosk located in the Jail Visitation lobby at 1901 NE F St, Grants Pass Oregon

v     The Phone by calling a toll free number at 1-866-232-1899

v     The web at http://payments.touchpaydirect.net.

You will need the Inmates Name, Booking Number (found on the inmate page) and the Facility locator number: 297501

 

Convenience fees apply.

 

VISITING:

You need to be on the inmates approved visitor list and also be approved to visit by the Jail staff.  Visiting is done by appointment only.  Please contact the Jail Receptionist at least one day prior by calling 474-5140, Press 1, then 0. 

 

Males:  Monday and Wednesday mornings and early afternoon.

 

Females:  Monday and Wednesday mid afternoon.

 

PROPERTY:

The only items the Jail may accept is medically required items approved by the medical clinic.  We can no longer accept clothing. 

 

The Jail will not release property for the inmates lodged in the jail without prior written supervisor approval.

 

TELEPHONES ARE A PRIVILEGE:

Inmates may maintain personal communications with family and friends by phone usage.  Phones are available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The line automatically disconnects after 15 minutes and are collect.

 

The jail now offers Calling Cards to the inmates at a fee of $20.00 per card.  This enables inmates to call cell phones or any other line that can not take a collect phone call. 

 

Not all inmates will have constant access to the telephone, this is a privilege and depends on cell assignment and classification. 

 

Inmates do not receive incoming phone calls and the Jail staff does not pass messages.

 

Telephone are monitored, recorded and may be used in disciplinary or court proceedings as evidence.

 

MEALS:

Kitchen, Laundry and Commissary Service are contracted through ARAMARK, inmates work to earn time off their jail sentences by performing tasks supervised by ARAMARK employees.

 

Inmates receive 2,500 calories per day, averaged in a week that is approved by a dietician.  The menu’s meet the guidelines of the American Correctional Association.  Here is an example of a day's menu.

  • Breakfast:  Fresh fruit, dry cereal, an egg, coffee cake with margarine and 1% milk.
  • Lunch:  Vegetable soup, Bologna sandwich with mustard, coleslaw, a cookie and Iced Tea with sugar.
  • Dinner:  Meatloaf pattie, cottage fries with gravy, salad with dressing, biscuit with margarine, Iced Cake and fruit drink. 

The jail kitchen is insepected by the Josephine County Health Inspector on a regular basis.
