Josephine County Emergency Management is a division of the Sheriff’s Office. It is staffed with 2 full-time employees, and over 150 dedicated volunteers in Search & Rescue (SAR) and JCEC, Josephine County Emergency Communications (Amateur Radio).
This department is responsible for coordinating activities relating to planning, mitigating, responding to and recovering from natural and man-made disasters. In addition, it is tasked with writing and updating the County’s Emergency Operations Plan, as well as the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan which includes the Josephine County Fire Plan.
Each year, Emergency Management conducts an exercise to test the Emergency Operations Plan, involving numerous local, state and federal agencies, as well as private companies, volunteer organizations and private citizens.
Emergency Management works with local agencies and the public to raise awareness and conduct training about disaster preparedness.
