Yurts
Josephine County Parks is pleased to present a new camping experience. You now have the opportunity to stay in a YURT whole camping in Josephine County. Thanks to a US Forest Service grant, nine (9) Yurts have been constructed; Almeda, Griffin, and Whitehorse Parks have one. While Schroeder, Indian Mary having two (2) each. Lake Selmac now has (5) yurts.
YURTS are a circular domed tent like structure with a wooden floor and vinyl material for sides and ceiling. The YURTS are 16ft in diameter with a 10 foot high ceiling. Features of the YURT include bunks beds which sleep one on top and two on the bottom, a fold out futon that sleeps two, table and chairs, electric heat and an electrical outlet. (NOTE: There is NO cooking, smoking or pets of any kind allowed in the Yurts.) All of the YURTS are located in parks with full shower facilities except for Almeda.
YURTS make camping handy as users only need to bring sleeping bags or bedding, cooking and eating supplies, clothes and a towel. For fall and spring camping YURTS will stay dry and warm, and for the summer camping the dome of the YURT can be raised to allow hot air to escape from the top. Ceiling fans have also been installed in the YURTS to promote air flow.
The YURTS in the Josephine County Parks will rent for $30.00 a night with a refundable cleaning deposit of $30.00. When making reservations there is also a one time fee of $8.00 for reserving your site or YURT. The $30.00 cleaning deposit is paid in cash at the park upon check in. There is a 14 day stay limit in ALL County Parks.
