Caring for those affected during a pandemic

In the event of a pandemic influenza there will likely be a large number of people seeking medical treatment.  Josephine County is currently working with local hospitals, as well as local and regional partners to address an increased demand for services during an influenza pandemic, including the creation of alternate care points to receive patients.

Josephine County Medical Reserve Corps, part of Josephine County Citizen Corps, is an organization that recruits, trains and coordinates medical volunteers.  In addition, Oregon is developing a Volunteer Healthcare Registry to allow licensed healthcare workers to pre-register to help provide medical care during public health emergencies.

Oregon's Hospital Capacity Website tracks emergency room, bed, and other resources (specific supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals) in each of the 60 hospitals throughout the state, including Josephine and Jackson Counties. This website allows hospitals and public health officials to have real time information about resource capacity so they can be efficiently managed.
