Airport Day 2019

Grants Pass Airport Day — June 15, 2019

The Grants Pass Airport Advisory Board is pleased to announce the 7th annual Grants Pass Airport Day, will be held Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Grants Pass Airport, 1441 Brookside Blvd., Grants. Visitors will enjoy an up close and personal look at aviation and its place in our community.

Airport Day is free and open to the public. Free shuttles will take visitors to and from parking areas, and food vendors will operate throughout the day. Pilots with their aircraft will be on hand to answer questions and take photos.

No admission charge - Free shuttles to and from parking areas - Food vendors throughout the day - Open access to pilots and aircraft for photos or all your questions about flying.

The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast presented by the Experimental Aircraft Association. Throughout the day the public will be able to wander among an array of classic and home-built aircraft and talk with pilots and builders.

Admission is free. Breakfast, lunch and desserts will be available for purchase.

Come enjoy free parking at the National Guard Armory on Brookside Boulevard, with free shuttles running continuously to and from Airport Central.

Among the exhibits will be the massive helicopters used by the Oregon Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service for fighting wildfire in Oregon. And, all will enjoy learning about the Med-Evac operations centered at the airport. There will be low-level fly-bys of iconic aircraft and aerobatic flight by the Rogue Valley Flyers R/C club.

At mid-day the skies will fill with hang-gliders arriving from their jump site atop Mt. Walker. There will be classic cars on display for all to see, and we will have the West Coast Ravens demonstrating formation flying.

Again this year, Aiport Day will offer a special focus on students and parents who are beginning to study future career directions. Aviation businesses are expecting many job vacancies over the next decade as military veterans begin to retire from the industry. The opportunities for young people will abound.
